At one end of the Notre Dame sideline, Irish coach Tyrone Willingham stands alone. Art crossed, head facing downward, mouth pulled in a thin, taut line. Willingham is disgusted. His Fighting Irish have just failed to recover an onside kick.
Instead of stressing, Willingham should be beaming. His Irish are seconds from sealing a 34-24 win at Florida State, so the failure to cover the kick is no big deal. He should relax. Smile.
