Political parties yesterday demanded an assurance that the Electoral Commission would not be unduly influenced by President Moi in the run up to the General Election.

More than 40 parties wanted an undertaking that the polls would be free from manipulation by the ruling party.

During a stormy meeting between the ECK and registered political parties about preparations for the polls, commission chairman Samuel Kivuitu gave a verbal assurance that there would be no interference in his work.
