SCIENTISTS are to be directed to carry out more research into the prevention of cancer instead of concentrating almost exclusively on finding a cure .
The first comprehensive survey of how cancer research cash is spent in the UK revealed today that just two per cent of the 257 million pounds being spent by the country's biggest funders goes on looking at ways of preventing the disease.
