Aggressive UK fund manager New Star Asset Management has swapped City PR firms following The Maitland Consultancy's decision to resign the account, said to be worth up to pounds 1m.
New Star - founded by John Duffield - has turned to Financial Dynamics after incumbent Maitland was forced to drop the brief last week over conflict of interest issues with newly won client Commerzbank (PRWeek, October 25).
German banking giant Commerzbank, which hired Maitland as its global corporate and financial agency, is widely known to have had a tumultuous relationship with Duffield following his sale of Jupiter Asset Management - the fund manager he founded in 1985 - to the bank in a bitter wrangle two years ago.
