ITALY'S second regasification plant is expected to receive the green light within weeks, giving a boost to the country's nascent market for imported liquefied natural gas.

The UK's BG is confident of obtaining approval for a single-train plant in the southern port of Brindisi before the end of the year.

With Italy's gas pipeline network running close to capacity and energy consumption increasing, liquefied gas imports are considered one of the only feasible options for reducing the country's dependency on oil.
