Basseterre, St Kitts: Member countries of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) have recommitted themselves to maintaining the value of the exchange rate at 2.70 EC [Eastern Caribbean] dollars to the United States dollar.

The commitment came at the just-concluded 46th ECCB Monetary Council meeting held at the Paradise Cove Resort in Anguilla, which was chaired by Grenada's finance minister, Anthony Boatswain. The meeting noted that developments in the global economy continued to dampen growth in the region, with a projected contraction of 0.1 per cent in economic activity for 2002. …
