MG ROVER is facing a battle with its 7,000-strong workforce over redevelopment plans which would involve closing the social club and creche at the company's Longbridge site.
MG Rover has hired StModwen Properties to help it build shops, homes and a technology park on 70 acres of the 475-acre plant.
MG Rover - which has admitted it will not produce as many cars this year as it had originally planned - said it hoped the redevelopment would generate funds to plough back into the manufacturing business.
