IT was by good fortune that we visited the Tokyo Motor Show in November 1987.
At the show was the new Mitsubishi Galant that had been launched just a few weeks prior to our visit. News of the new 1987 Galant had not been expected so early as MMC, or Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, had just reintroduced their Sapporo, based on the old Galant with what MMC called Active ECS, or as the racing circles called it, Active Suspension. The new Galant, which MMC categorised as an "individual four-door", provided all the technology that one could think of in a modern automobile - four-wheel drive, four-wheel steering, …
