Barely three weeks after he was removed as prime minister, Hage Geingob was yesterday voted off the SWAPO politburo. SWAPO sources confirmed last night that Geingob failed by two votes to make it on to the politburo. He gained 33 votes, while the last person to be elected on to the 17-strong body received 35 votes.
The 83-strong central committee met yesterday to elect the Politburo.
Geingob's failure to maintain his position on the politburo is a further indication that his star is waning following President Nujoma's decision to move him from his position on 27 August.
