Auckland, Sept 17 NZPA - Michael Choy was a gentle, caring man who chose a career helping others, his distraught mother said today.
Rita Croskery kept her public composure throughout the five-week trial of six teenagers charged with Michael's murder and manslaughter and until the very end of the marathon two-day sentencing in the High Court in Auckland yesterday.
As she heard Justice Fisher talk about the baseball bat blow to the head which killed him, she ``lost it''.
Today her voice quavered as she spoke about the son she misses desperately.
She described how he had chosen a career as as care-giver because it meant he could help others less fortunate than him.
He was delivering pizzas as a part-time job as he worked one day a week as a care-giver, waiting for a full-time job to become available.
