Tata Group, once synonymous with steel and heavy engineering, has entered the information technology sector with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) spearheading the IT Sector foray of the group. TCS, a 34-year old company, has revenues of Rs4,187 crores in 2001-2002 and represents nearly 12 percent of the Group's total revenue and almost 10 percent of the total revenues of the Indian IT industry.
