SYDNEY, Sept 19 AAP - A bushfire on the NSW mid-north coast could threaten 30 homes and is expected to destroy thousands of hectares of bush if gale-force winds persist. Residents in the Kalang Valley, south-west of Bellingen, have been told by the Rural Fire Service (RFS) to clear out their gutters, cut away undergrowth and get firefighting equipment ready. The blaze has already burnt out 350 hectares and was expected to burn another 2,000 hectares before it could be contained.
