It's not Phil Markham's or Joanne Ruppel's fault, nor is it mine, that I've never seen them naked. On a global scale, I'm still in the majority, but a lot of people out there have been present on occasions when Phil and Joanne weren't wearing clothes. (Most of these people, not by chance, were themselves naked.) Phil and Joanne live in Albany, New York, and they spend a good part of each summer in southern Vermont, a latitude where the opportunities to lounge around comfortably outdoors in the nude are delimited by the air temperature and the biting-insect population. ...
