Solo, C Java, Oct 27 (ANTARA) - Indonesian Mujahiddin Council (MMI) leader Abubakar Ba'asyir said Sunday he did not want to be detained at the police headquarters.
"I will not (ever) want to be detained. If I am finally detained, this is only the result of a force. That's what I want to clarify .. I remain weak," he told reporters at the Muhammadiyah general hospital here.
The police has named Ba'asyir a suspect in a string of bombings in 2000 and in an alleged attempt to assassinate President Megawati Soekarnoputri. However, he denied all the charges.
Accompanied by his loyalists and his son, Abdul Rochim, the Moslem cleric said, as a good citizen, he would respect the summon to clarify the accusations levelled to him.
He said the police's order to detain him was not legally but politically motivated upon the request of the enemies of Islam, namely the United States, Australia and their allies.
