How do you plan to control sound pollution on Diwali night?
It is really a difficult task to put a complete ban on the use of sound crackers because there is always a tendency to violate the ban. But having said that, we we are also determined to put a carpet ban on the use of highdecibel crackers. For that we have already asked the police to take action. During the immersion processions of Durga idols, banned crackers were used and this is alarming.
How can you stop the use of sound crackers?
We are implementing the Calcutta High Court's ban on crackers over 90 decibels. It has come to our notice that high decibel crackers have been smuggled into the state from adjoining states and for that the state police have been directed to seize all banned crackers.
