MCLEAN, Va. -- USA TODAY named 40 winners to its fifth annual All-USA Teacher Second and Third Teams, honoring them as representatives of all outstanding teaching in our nation's schools. The 2002 Second and Third Teams include 37 individuals and 3 teams of teachers in grades K-12.
USA TODAY's All-USA Teacher Teams honor individuals and instructional teams across the country. Twenty each are selected to the First, Second and Third Teams. First Team members win trophies and $2,500 for their schools, and Second and Third Team members each receive certificates. All are honored in the nation's newspaper as representatives of outstanding teachers.
"These teachers were selected for their abilities to advance students' knowledge and make differences in people's lives. We are proud to recognize these outstanding teachers who inspire us all," said USA TODAY Editor Karen Jurgensen.
