Large Russian companies are, on the whole, improving the quality of their corporate governance, Tatiana Ivanova, business director at the Corporate Law and Governance Institute, told journalists.

In the second quarter 19 out of 25 companies included in the corporate governance rating calculations, which account for 95% of capitalization on the Russian stock market, improved their positions.

The most significant breakthrough in the second quarter, according to Ivanova, was at Surgutneftegaz, whose rating increased 11%, Avtovaz (almost 10%), and Aeroflot (6%). The reason for this was increased transparency, disclosure of information …
