The government beefed up its efforts yesterday to help the nation's booming TFT-LCD monitor industry take off by establishing a special taskforce aimed at making Taiwan, the world's largest provider of flat panel displays, comprising part of the government's "two trillion, double stars" investment project.

The TFT-LCD monitor industry is one of the sectors that's poised to hit the "two trillion" mark, which also includes the local semiconductor industry. The government plans to boost the production value of the two exceptional industries up to around two trillion a year.
