Korea's GDP grew 6.5% in 2nd quarter, Jeon says.

By Sim Sung-tae Staff reporter Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economy Jeon Yun- churl forecast yesterday that Korea's second quarter gross domestic product (GDP) grew 6.5 percent year-on-year, faster than the 5.7 percent rate achieved in the first quarter.

"In terms of real GDP, the economy will grow at an annualized rate of 6 percent or more this year," Jeon said in an interview with the YTN.

A finance ministry official familiar with the GDP data said that Jeon's prediction is in line with the data the Bank of Korea expects. The Bank of Korea estimated early this month that Korea's GDP, which posted a …
