One week after the incident described above, another attempted robbery of a Tennessee home also ended with one of two intruders dead and the armed homeowner unscathed.
On August 25th in Frayser, also located in Shelby County, Donnie M. Weathers, 64, was home alone trying to take a nap at about 1:20 p.m. when he heard noises indicating that someone was attempting to break into the house. Upon investigating, he saw two men trying to enter the home through a sliding glass door. He later told officers that one of the interlopers appeared to have a gun.
