Paris, Oct 23 (EFE).- Costa Rica is the highest-ranking Latin American country on a new global index of press freedom published by Reporters Without Borders (RSF), while Cuba ranks lowest in the region.

Costa Rica is 15th on RSF's list, which includes 139 countries, and "is traditionally the continent's best performer in terms of press freedom," according to the organization, which rated the Central American nation higher than the United States.

This is the first report of its kind from the Paris-based media advocacy group.
