China: Paper praises President Jiang's US visit.

President Jiang Zemin's visit to the USA is of "special importance and far-reaching significance", according to a Beijing-backed Hong Kong newspaper. In an editorial on Jiang's current visit to that country, the paper says important issues will be dealt with, which will strengthen the high-level Sino-US strategic dialogue. This in turn will help enhance understanding and trust between the two countries, as well as promote constructive cooperative ties and push bilateral relations on to a higher level. The following is the text of an editorial entitled "Jiang Zemin's US visit has far-reaching significance" published by Hong Kong newspaper Ta Kung Pao web site on 23 October

Chinese President Jiang Zemin arrived Chicago last night to begin his working visit in the United States. This will be President Jiang Zemin's third meeting with President George W. Bush in a year, reflecting the great attention assigned by the two heads of state to bilateral relations.
