TUAN Chau island in Halong Bay is busy transforming itself into the biggest resort and entertainment complex in the country.
Untouched until 1997, when local investors started first infrastructure construction, the island is now destined to become a $500-million resort complex, according to Quang Ninh provincial authorities.
The complex now boasts luxurious recreational facilities, thanks to the Ho Chi Minh City-based Au Lac joint stock company, which spent $6.2 million building a 2.2 kilometre road linking the island to the mainland in exchange for land use rights on the 150-hectare site.
