The Senate leadership yesterday reacted sharply to claims by some Senators that the ongoing moves to impeach President Olusegun Obasanjo would be over by next week, describing the statement as unfounded.
This is also as the leadership of the House of Representatives defended the Speaker, Ghali Umar Na'Abba on the accusation of tyranny against him by Honourable Ehigie West-Idahosa.
The Senate also dismissed alleged moves to impeach its President, Anyim Pius Anyim as lacking the needed majority and coming from people who have made promises "at the Villa" on what they can do in the upper chamber.
Spokesman of the Senate, Jonathan Zwingina who made the statements in Abuja yesterday while briefing journalists on developments in the Senate within the week said those who said the impeachment moves would be conclusively dropped next week would be proved wrong.
