A MOVE allowing gay couples to adopt children is facing massive opposition in the House of Lords.

Peers are set to clash tomorrow over a crucial clause in a Bill that would permit unmarried couples, including homosexuals, to adopt.

The vote comes as a poll yesterday showed that 71 per cent of parents are opposed to gay couples adopting children in care.

The ICM survey was carried out by the Christian Institute, which questioned 500 parents in the Prime Minister's own constituency.

Two-thirds said Tony Blair was wrong to support gay adoption, and one in five said it would stop them …
