SECOND OPINION By Jane Bickerstaffe, Director, INCPEN THE last two months have seen increased coverage of packaging in the media - unfortunately usually negative comments - but at least it has given us a chance to respond and to explain that packaging actually makes a positive contribution to the environment

A typical example was an evening TV news report of the World Summit in Johannesburg. It started with global warming and clean drinking water, then showed someone opening a kitchen store cupboard and saying, "we can all do our bit for the environment if we avoid packaging!"
