Tigers May Be In Running for Title

And now for the encore.

Coming off one of its best seasons of the last two decades, the Los Lunas High School baseball program enters a new realm this spring as one of a handful of teams expected to challenge for the Class 5A state championship.

The Tigers (14-8 last season) open the 2002 season Tuesday at Cibola, another member of that group of contending teams.

Belen doesn't open until March 2, when the Eagles (6-15 a year ago) have a doubleheader at Gallup.
