IT'S 10pm on a freezing Friday night in Edinburgh city centre and I'm stepping, rubber-clad, past the doormen of Studio 24 in Calton Road into the unknown darkness of the Torture Garden.
It is not every day you're asked to go to a fetish night as an assignment. But I donned the dog collar, rubber-and-mesh bodice and skirt, and knee-length boots after managing to persuade a couple of friends to accompany me - and the photographer.
Once inside, I feel slightly underdressed. Outfits range from a wedding dress, a Hitler uniform and gladiator armour and chainmail to transparent basques with fishnet tights, PVC catsuits with gimp masks, and red rubber …
