Israeli-based Keryx Biopharmaceut- icals has just announced that it has filed a protocol with the FDA for fast-track Phase III trials on a drug used in treating diabetic kidneys. If successful, brokers reckon that the drug could be launched in the last quarter of 2005, providing Keryx finds a marketing partner. On that assumption, the company might break even in 2006.
