In July, Hawaii MTA (HMTA) sponsored Pianomania 2002. More than 270 students performed, representing twenty-six HMTA teachers. Two concerts were directed by volunteer band and orchestra conductors and attracted an audience of more than 2,000 people. Heralded as a "rousing success," it was featured on the morning news as 'well as local cable stations. Also, congratulations to newly certified members Katharine Hafner and State President Helen Chao-Casano.
