IF it was true that the khatib leading last week's Friday prayers at the Perak State Mosque in Ipoh delivered a sermon filled with untruths and malice, woe betide the Malay Muslim community.

What the episode spells out is that the house of God was desecrated; a man entrusted to lead a congregation to express servitude to God lied, and there is no place spared of such lies including the house of God.

Authorities are investigating the khatib to determine if the words he uttered were seditious or otherwise.
