The government of the Spanish autonomous region of Catalonia is holding negotiations for the acquisition of a 75 per cent stake in Al-pi, the Spanish telecommunications company which it used to own. Al-pi, which used to trade under the name of Catalana de Telecomunicaciones, was privatised in 1999 and sold to Uni2, the Spanish subsidiary of French telecommunications group France Telecom.
