Deutsche Bahn AG (DB), the German state railway operator, plans to sell its stake in Scandlines AG, the German-Danish ferry operator, within the current year. Talks are underway over a sale of the entire company to the Danish state, the German company's partner in the 50:50 joint venture. Scandlines. which operates services linking Denmark, Germany, Sweden and the Baltic countries, generates annual turnover of more than 400m euros, and recorded post-tax profit of 21m euros in 2000.
