This week's three cheers go to The Welsh Assembly for giving the go-ahead for a pounds 300m movie-making complex dubbed the Welsh Hollywood.

The Llanilid film studio could bring more than 2,000 new jobs to the south Wales valleys. Dragon International Studios, a consortium backed by Sir Richard Attenborough wants to build the facility, as part of a 350-acre development that will include an international film academy and movie-based leisure attractions.

The project, which would be located in an area of severe economic deprivation, has won a share of pounds 1.2bn of EU aid aimed at boosting economic activity in the region. …
