SHANGHAI - Siemens AG of Germany couldn't have chosen a better place to expand its operations when it picked China as a production base for its mobile phones and networks and for its medical equipment, aside from its status as a major supplier in various infrastructure projects in the country.
With more than a billion people as a market base and with a government that is slowly, albeit surely, opening up its doors to international trade and other economic activities China is the place to be, especially for investors hoping to make up for their businesses that seem to have plateaued elsewhere.
At the center of Siemens AG's expansion is the city of Shanghai where they have been revving up production activity for mobile phones that are geared for distribution not only in China and the rest of Asia, including the Philippines, but also elsewhere in the world.
