SEOUL, Oct 1 Asia Pulse - Sales of high-end electronics products such as two-door side-by-side refrigerators and digital TV sets have slowed down, an indication the domestic economy is weakening, industry sources said Tuesday.
In October and September, sales of side-by-side refrigerators by Samsung Electronics Co. and LG Electronics Co. dropped below 50,000 units each from 55,000 to 60,000 units in the second quarter of the year.
The fall in sales of Samsung's "Zipel" and LG's "Dios" refrigerators, closely associated with the movement of economic indicators, is often interpreted as a sign of slowdown in the real-side economy, an industry source said.
He hoped the sales will take a favorable turn in the fall season when newly-weds are expected to buy high-priced electronics goods.
