SYDNEY, Oct 1 Asia Pulse - John Fairfax Holdings Ltd (ASX:FXJ) has rated itself as the media company with the best position in Australia.
Chief executive officer Fred Hilmer will this week tell investors in New York that the newspaper group - publisher of The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age - will be a major beneficiary of any upturn in the advertising cycle.
In a slide presentation lodged with the Australian Stock Exchange, Fairfax said its costs were also tightly managed and it had a stable management team.
The media group expected to have low capital expenditure after January 2003.
Fairfax has recently undergone a major printing overhaul, with a $90 million upgrade to its Chullora operations in NSW and a new $220 million printing plant at Tullamarine, Victoria.
