AUSTRALIAN PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE TOO COSTLY: ICA.
CANBERRA, Oct 1 Asia Pulse - The insurance industry today will try to blame every level of government if public liability cover failed to become cheaper and more available.
The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) said a lack of uniformity and the failure of some governments to tackle key cost drivers will weaken the national impact of reforms on the cost and availability of cover.
The warnings were contained in the ICA's report card on each state and territory's legislation, ahead of Wednesday's third meeting with the federal government on the issue.
"There is a significant risk that the reforms in Queensland, Victoria and WA will not reduce claims costs or improve the predictability of claims in any meaningful way," ICA executive director Alan Mason said.
