WASHINGTON _ Central bank governors of South Korea, China and Japan have decided to hold their first regular meeting next spring in Beijing as part of efforts to strengthen trilateral cooperation.
Park Seung, governor of the Bank of Korea (BOK), said on Sunday that the central bank heads agreed to meet regularly twice a year.
He said the agreement was made during his meeting with Dai Xianglong, governor of the People's Bank of China, and Masaru Hayami, governor of the Bank of Japan, who got together on the sidelines of the two-day annual assembly of the
International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, which opened here Saturday.
Gov. Park said the first regular meeting will be held in the headquarters of the Chinese central bank in Beijing next spring, but that the exact date has yet to be fixed.
``We've agreed to regularize central bankers' meeting among the three Asian countries in order to enhance trilateral collaboration in coping with global financial issues,'' he said.
