The operation of a presidential commission charged with establishing the truth behind suspicious deaths under authoritarian regimes is likely to be resumed.
Floor leaders of the rival parties yesterday agreed to form the Presidential Truth Commission on Suspicious Deaths again and decided to urge the parliamentary Legislation and Judiciary Committee to work out details to resume the operation of the commission.
``We reached an understanding that the rival parties would make efforts to ensure the commission is put in place again,'' Chung Kyun-hwan, floor leader of the Millennium Democratic Party, told reporters after a meeting with his counterpart Rhee Q-taek of the Grand National Party.
