A group of experts on the North Korean economy said yesterday the North is expected to require 1.27 million houses covering 241.3 square kilometers of land after the Koreas are unified.
The group led by Moon Byoung-jip, honorary professor at Chungang University, also said in a report that the cost for building the houses, if Korean unification is accomplished in 2010, would be approximately 54 trillion won (US$44.08 billion).
