IHO Refuses Seoul's Demands on East Sea.

The International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) has refused South Korea's request that voting resume on the disputed name for the body of water between the Korean peninsula and Japan, Seoul officials said yesterday.

The IHO informed Seoul that it would continue to receive opinions from the board of directors until the end of November and put out the final version of its publication by June next year, they said.

South Korea strongly protested against the IHO's decision earlier this month to suspend the ongoing voting among its members on whether to leave the name for the disputed area out as a compromise.
