A group of US and Chinese scientists have identified a group of proteins that naturally block HIV from developing into AIDS, a discovery that could revolutionize HIV treatment, AFX reported on September 26 citing US researchers.

A joint team at the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center (ADARC) succeeded in identifying a group of proteins, called alpha-defensins -1, -2, -3, found in a small percentage of HIV-positive people known as long-term non-progressors.
