Gauteng's economy takes a quantum leap forward Blue IQ the basis for increasing competitive advantage, writes IN 1997 Gauteng's finance and economic affairs department produced a provincial trade and industrial strategy after two years of intensive research into the functioning of the provincial economy.

"The result of this research is the Blue IQ initiative, which now forms a basis for Gauteng's future prospects and options to increase its competitive advantage," says Jabu Moleketi, Gauteng MEC for finance and economic affairs.

"Ultimately the research posed the key question: what will it take to create a significant shift in the trajectory of Gauteng's economy and a quantum leap into the global economy within the next 10 to 20 years?" The key findings of the report …
