(From Daily Post (Liverpool))
Byline: PHIL STANLEY
THE SEAGULLS' dismal start to the UniBond League Premier Division season continued as they slumped to their sixth consecutive defeat to remain rock bottom.
After an edgy opening by both sides, Marine offered the first serious threat on 14 minutes when Richie Townsend fired wide from 18 yards, and then Will Dolan's free-kick from 25 yards was held by Matthew Boswell at the base of the post.
Marc Limbert and John Stannard tried hard to prise some openings for Bay but they lacked penetration and Dolan went close for the visitors again in the 40th minute with a 16-yard volley over the bar.
The breakthrough came on 45 minutes when Neil Black's corner on the left was headed home from eight yards by centre half Paul McNally.
Boswell saved Black's shot from 15 yards in stoppage time and three minutes after the interval Limbert got behind the Marine defence to meet Glen Graham's long ball with his head only for former Bay keeper Billy Stewart to save.
