Byline: MARK CURRIE
MIDFIELD dynamo Robbie Savage revealed that a half-time dressing down from manager Mark Hughes was the spur for a famous Wales victory in Helsinki on Saturday evening.
The European Championship win against Finland was the first away success for 31 months and extended the side's unbeaten run to six matches, which is the best since another European campaign in 1986.
But Savage, who showed no signs of the injury problems which prevented him from starting the season with Birmingham City, admitted that it had taken time for Wales to settle in the Olympic Stadium.
``We didn't play that well in the first half but we had a bit of a rollicking from the manager at the break and we came out and did much better in the second period,'' he said.
``A couple of years ago after a firsthalf performance like that we would have been beaten, but we have shown we are hard to beat even when we don't play well. In the end we thoroughly deserved the win and could have scored more goals.''
