PRESTATYN took a decisive step towards the Bromborough Paints Merseyside Competition title as they crushed bottom club Cheshire Lines by 133 runs.
They now go into the last Saturday of the season with an 18-points advantage over Ainsdale whose challenge faltered with a home defeat at the hands of Sutton.
Seven of the Lines batsmen failed to get off the mark and they were all out 39 with Phil Whiteside making 26.
Mike Williams 5-21 and Carlisle Stuart 4-17 did the damage for the Welsh side, who had made a total of 172. Milind Tamhane (92 not out) was the match-winner for Sutton who had a sixwicket margin.
Moorfield stayed third, just ahead of Birkenhead St Mary's as both won but fifth-placed Wavertree went under at Aigburth for whom Graham Talbot claimed 6-12.
Andy Gibson made 51 for Birkenhead and Shakell Nawaz took five wickets in a 73-runs margin against Rainhill.
