TAOS Three missing Taos men dressed only in light jackets and jeans survived three nights in bitter cold over the weekend after their pickup truck ran out of fuel a mile from the Colorado border.
Two of them, brothers Anthony, 27, and Paul Abeyta, 26, suffered severe hypothermia and frostbite, according to Conejos County, Colo., Sheriff Isaac Gallegos.
A companion, Aaron Ortiz, 33, was transferred Tuesday to University Hospital in Albuquerque from Conejos County Hospital.
He was hospitalized in Conejos County after a search party of sheriff's deputies and civilian volunteers found him around 10 p.m. Monday about six miles from the abandoned truck.
