The benchmark stock index dropped for a second day yesterday, led by Bank Leumi, Israel Discount Bank, and other companies that reported slumping second-quarter earnings.

The TA-25 Index declined 5.45 points, or 1.4 percent, to 373.97 after losing 0.7% Wednesday. Twenty-one stocks fell and four rose.

Bank Leumi fell 2%, to NIS 5.97. It was maintained "hold'' by analyst Stephen Levey at UBS Warburg, after it reported an 80% plunge in second-quarter profit.

Bank Hapoalim rose 0.4%, to 7.49. It said second- quarter profit dropped a less-than-expected 31% after it reduced costs to make up for higher loan-default provisions.

Bezeq Ltd. dropped 2.4%, to 5.19. It extended its decline after it said Wednesday that …
