SOUTH Africa have scoffed at the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA)'s attempts at co-hosting the 2010 World Cup with their northern neighbours, saying it would be better for countries such as Zimbabwe to host only practice matches before the tournament.

But ZIFA yesterday maintained chances were still there for Zimbabwe to share the tournament with South Africa.

Danny Jordan, the head of South Africa's 2010 World Cup bidding committee, dismissed ZIFA's pleas to jointly bid for the tournament, which the international football body FIFA has promised to Africa.
